need

verb + to do / verb + doing

We need to gather information first.
（まず情報を集める必要がある）

This house badly needs repairing.
（この家は大修理が必要だ）

* need to do（…する必要がある）とneed doing（…される必要がある）の意味の違いに注意。

offer

verb + to do

The boy offered to carry my baggage.
（少年は私の荷物を持ちましょうと言ってくれた）

order

verb + object + to do

The manager ordered his staff to revise the plans.
（部長はスタッフに計画を練り直せと命令した）

permit

verb + doing

The teacher would not permit talking in class.
（先生は授業中にしゃべることをどうしても許さなかった）

verb + object + to do

The city council wouldn't permit them to build condominiums in the residential area.
（市議会はその住宅区域でのマンションの建設を許さなかった）

persuade

verb + object + to do

I persuaded my father to send me to the United States to study.
（父を説き伏せてアメリカ留学を認めさせた）

plan
