fail

verb + to do

They cannot fail to reach an agreement.
（彼らはきっと合意に達するだろう）

fancy

verb + doing

Hi, Andy! Fancy meeting you here!
（やあアンディ！君にここで会うとはね）

* fancy doingは命令文で用いて「…を考えてごらんなさい（驚くではありませんか）」→「…するなんて（驚いた）」という意味。

finish

verb + doing

She finished reading "Gone with the Wind."
（彼女は「風と共に去りぬ」を読み終えた）

forbid

verb + doing

I forbid you(your) entering the room.（君の入室を禁じる）

* 例文中のyou(your)は動名詞enteringの意味上の主語。

verb + object + to do

My father's doctor has forbidden him to drink.
（父は医者から酒を禁じられている）

force

verb + object + to do

It is no use forcing children to study against their will.
（嫌がる子どもを無理やり勉強させてもだめだ）

verb + object + preposition + doing

He forced me into signing my name.
（彼は無理やり私に署名させた）

forget

verb + doing

I will never forget meeting her ten years ago.
（私は10年前に彼女に会ったことを決して忘れないだろう）

verb + to do

Those who forgot to bring the assignment, raise your hand.
（宿題を持ってくるのを忘れた人は手を上げなさい）

* forget doing（…したことを忘れる）とforget to do（…するのを忘れる）の意味の違いに注意。

forgive

verb + object + preposition + doing

I can't forgive him for shifting his blame to someone else.
（自分の失敗を他人のせいにするなんて許せない）
